Interview with Lil Jon
Live: I want to thank you for coming to the OC here at the Giant Orange Festival. Was it everything you expected and more? Lil Jon: I’ve been to the OC plenty of times, I’m here a lot dealing with Oakley. Oakley is family with me, I have a couple of signature sunglasses with them, actually I was just here with Oakley a week ago doing something for the MLB All Star Game. Tonight it was like we were just chillin and like we were having a big house party. That’s what it was like tonight.
Inteview with Misty May-Treanor
Misty May-Treanor, reflects on life in her new autobiography and shares her lessons with others. The night before the women’s beach volleyball final at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, Misty May-Treanor quietly reflected on the journey, which brought her thousands of miles from home.
Labor Day Planning
What comes to mind when you hear the words Labor Day? For most of us, it conjures memories of summer, barbecues, trips to the beach and for some the dreaded return of homework, tests and lectures. For others, Labor Day even signifies the start of the NFL season (although usually the first games take place the first Thursday post Labor Day). No matter how you celebrate it, you don’t want to waste the last three-day weekend of summer! So, in order to insure you make the most of this glorious day of slacking and slouching, we suggest the following activities, each which guarantees a memorable 2010 Labor Day weekend.
Miss Newport Beach Pageant
If “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” then Newport Beach is a center of beauty that draws trendsetters from all over the world. With its seaside ambiance and natural splendor, it is the ideal venue for this celebration of feminine beauty represented in the Newport Beach Pageants. On August 29th, this year’s new and most exciting pageants will begin the events that lead to the crowns of Miss Newport Beach 2011, Miss Newport Beach Teen 2011, Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Mrs. Newport Beach.
Interview with the lovely Holly Madison
Live: First of all, I just wanted to say congratulations on all your success so far. It’s been quite the journey. Like most people who make their way to Hollywood you are not native to California. What was it like for you growing up in Prince of Wales Island, Alaska?
Irvine Lake Mud Run
“This race will have more mud pits than we ever had before!” race director Paul Rudman said of the 5k (3.8 mile) Irvine Lake Mud Run. “We’ll also be featuring the largest mud pit in Orange County that’s called The Big Watoosy. It’s going to be pretty phenomenal; it’s 145 feet long by 35 feet wide. It’s just massive, and the kids love it, oh my gosh!”
Summer Art Festivals
In a world that springs forth a steady stream of calamities, art is not only an escape but also, as John Cheever once said, “The triumph over chaos.” Among the many reasons that Golden State locals and international travelers escape to Laguna Beach each summer are its life-affirming, soul-enhancing art festivals. Clustered along Laguna Canyon Road, the Big Three annual outdoor art fairs – Sawdust Art Festival, Art-A-Fair, and Festival of Arts, featuring Pageant of the Masters – draw epic crowds on weekends and more navigable ones during the week.
Deep fried fun at the OC Fair
Where can you find tasty food, live entertainment, a midway full of exciting games, and rides that will leave you breathless all in one place? Well if you’ve been in Orange County in the past 120 years then you know of course that I’m talking about the Orange County fair. The OC Fair invites guests to a deep-fried summer on a stick as opens its gates to the public once more for the 120th anniversary celebration July 16-August 15, 2010. Open Wednesday-Sunday the OC Fair will feature the premiere of a 120th anniversary exhibit showcase cataloguing a decade-by-decade look into Orange County’s favorite tradition.
Interview with Olivia Munn
Life was loud, messy, fast and a lot of yelling. A lot of the yelling was because I had a crazy family. The other yelling was just because there are loud ass Asians in my family. There are two types of Asians: There is the kind that laugh with their hand over their mouth and shy away and then there are the Asians that chew with their mouths open and speak at a constant level of shout. And really competitive. I had a stepsister who was the same age as me and naturally very smart. I always had to work so much harder than her to just try and keep up. Our parents felt that because we were same age (she was 6 months older than I), that I should be in all the same honors classes as she was.
World Cup Who's Who
The appearance in the CONFED finals last summer was only the beginning of the U.S. National teamÕs roller coaster ride to the 2010 World Cup. They finished atop the CONCACAF standings, but they needed a grueling 3-2 win at Honduras to qualify for the World Cup. Then, tragedy struck. Star forward Charlie DaviesÕs nearly fatal car accident in October 2009, sobered the U.S. team from the elation of World Cup qualification to the devastating sense of incompletion created by DaviesÕ absence. Luckily, his injuries were treatable and, over the winter, his improvement looked significant. He and U.S. coach, Bob Bradley were hopeful that he would be back in time. So, Davies rehabbed and hoped to get a call in the spring and an invitation to the Cup.
